OPEN IN PRAYER MESSAGE SUMMARY
Pastor Duaine walks us through listening and honoring the voices/people the Lord has placed in our lives. God will place people who will speak His word and be His voice to move us into key moments of opportunity in our lives. These beautiful voices, including the Holy Spirit, will require/demand decisions from you, as they are voices of God’s purpose. The decisions you make will need investment from you and it needs to be a decision of quality, to override the season you are in and sustain you into where God is directing you!
SCRIPTURES
1 Samuel 9:5- 10 & 15-24 Deuteronomy 30:15-20 Ecclesiastes 9:11 1Samuel 10:6 Psalm 23:5-6 Ecclesiastes 3: 2-3
DISCUSSION
Let’s talk about it…
1. Saul was transformed into an entirely diGerent person which the bible says “in an instant in time.”
Reference 1 Samuel 9. God moved Saul to be the first regardless of his previous stature. How? Because he submitted to the voice of an authorized mentor. Samuel was talking to Saul based on who God has called him to be. Take a moment to reflect on the people in your life.
– Who in your life is an ‘authorized mentor’by God?
– How do you respond/honor their voice?
– Would you share a time where your life changed in ‘an instant in time’ because of someone
God placed in your life?
2. God’s calling us to carry transformative power, to carry an atmosphere that He can send somebody else into and be changed. Saul was told when he went into a “company of prophets he will also be able to prophesy.” Saul was transformed and he only had to enter it. He didn’t pray, intercede or need to understand.
– Do you believe God can transform you too? Share why or why not.
– How would it make you feel knowing others can be transformed in your presence?
3. Sustaining that type of transformative power requires the presence of God: prayer closet, time of worship, intimate self-activated time with the Lord. Remember some of the things you do now may look foolish but it will prep you into your upcoming time.
– How do you host the presence of God? Give some examples of how that currently looks for you or how you would like it to look for you?
– Share some challenges that have come up when securing time to get into prayer or worship. How did you overcome them? Or ask others in the group for ideas to overcome them.
CLOSING
REMIND YOUR GROUP:
There is a demand for every occasion. If the demand of that occasion isn’t met, you will forfeit the benefits.
– Honor is a demand. Be aware of what you are blessing vs. cursing, even in your small talk.
– Seed is a demand. How are you investing into it?
– Quality decisions are a demand. Honor the principles of God and apply the keys of God.
ENCOURAGE YOUR GROUP:
The Holy Spirit is your greatest mentor!
– He comes beside your right hand and guides you into your next dimension. – He is your friend when everybody else leaves you.
– He is your comforter and peace.
CHALLENGE YOUR GROUP:
The Bible is a book of decisions. It’s the greatest source on decision making. It teaches that God subject himself to the power of our decisions and the quality of your life will follow the quality of your decisions.
– How can you change the way you pray to reflect the truth – you have options in your decision making – when you partner with God/The Holy Spirit? (reference Psalm 23:5-6)
– What decisions can you make this week, this month, this year that will apply as a seed for a Godly future outcome?
