MESSAGE REVIEW
Nepios is the Greek word for “spiritual babes” who are carnal and immature, easily influenced by the schemes of men because they have not exercised their senses to discern both good and evil. The “Huios” a “mature” son operates in His inheritance. This inheritance displays God’s very nature, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control acquired by dying daily to the flesh. Fleshly Christians have been saved but have never been developed and will live their lives frustrated. But those who have been led by the Spirit of God are the mature (developed) sons of God. These sons not only are led by the spirit in church, but in all aspects of life and rise to the occasion time and time again. They are called steadfast peacemakers with great character. The mature sons have learned to inquire of the Holy Spirit in all that they do in their lives.
LET’S TALK ABOUT IT!
•Read Romans 8:13-14 The bible says that if you live according to the flesh you will die, but by the Spirit you will live. It is vital to have the Holy Spirit to put death to the deeds of our flesh. How do you get a spirit to subdue your flesh? Whichever one you feed, grows and whichever one you starve, dies. You bring your deepest desires and make it obey God and everything else will fall into place. What does it look like to starve the flesh? What does it mean to be led by the Holy Spirit?
•Read Luke 15:17-31 The scripture speaks of the story of the “Prodigal son”
-Pastor Ron speaks of sonship and the difference between a servant’s mindset and a son’s mindset. Some people believe that they must “do” something to become a son of God. It’s nothing that we must do but what we allow God to develop in us that’s important.
Have you ever struggled with a performance mindset? Do you believe and fully accept that you are truly a son of God?
•Read John 16: 5-10 Jesus speaks to the disciples regarding the “Helper” – the Holy Spirit whom He sent from the Father. He calls Him the “Spirit of Truth”. Since Jesus specifically instructs His disciples before His ascension to heaven, we can assume this must be of high importance. He states that the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth, He will tell all things to come and will glorify Jesus. He will take what belongs to Jesus and declare it to us. Since we know that the “Helper” is a gift from the Lord to us here on earth, will you be intentional to spend time with Him? What are some of the ways we can deepen our relationship with the Holy Spirit?
PRAYER FOCUS & REQUESTS
Ask your members if they have any prayer requests or praise reports. Pray for each member of your life group that they are truly led by the Holy Spirit. Remind each other this week to inquire of Him in all our decisions and plans.
